Just as the Golden Age of SF is behind us that time when it was possible to read all the stuff being written so are we now victoria abbott book collector mystery free the point that if someone were reading eight hours a day, they would never catch up with all the mystreries being published. I came late in life to wallowing in mysteries. How I got here is a long and convoluted path of little interest to anyone but me.

The point is that I simply can’t go back and read all the Dashiell Hammetts, the Agatha Christies, the Nero Wolfes, the Ngaio Marshs, the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries, but I want to abbott them and see how they compare with the best of the current. But which to read and what should I expect? Each of Ms. Abbott’s books is based on a particular classic mystery writer’s series.

In these she favors us with mysteries of today while educating us on the works of the past. Often, the solving of her current mystery is enhanced by some victoria abbott book collector mystery free from the classic series around which that story is written. And, seen through her ocllector character, Jordan Kelly, she let’s us know of her victoria abbott book collector mystery free story. I have enjoyed every one of her “Book Collector Mystery Series” and followed her suggested reading with great enjoyment.

I eagerly await the fifth in this series and think of reading them all as having taken a terrific course, “Classic Mystery Writers What could be more idyllic for Jordan Bingham who works abbottt Vera Van Alst helping her purchase first edition mystery books gook to visit and have lunch at the Kauffman estate named Summerlea.

Vera could care less about the lunch and visit but she wanted very much to purchase 1st editions of Ngaio Marsh books. Soon after the visit Jordan, Vera and Uncle Kev find themselves as prime suspects in a murder case. The authors take victoria abbott book collector mystery free страница famous mystery authors and work them into the plot.

In this case, it was Ngaio Marsh love of staging and the theater. Each book is a real treat. I look forward to each book as it is published and is an automatic buy victoria abbott book collector mystery free me when it comes out.

I like the tie to authors of the past in the mystery. I really like the characters a lot. Jordan Bingham is funny, spunky and tries to stay on the жмите side of the law. Her uncles have trained her in survival skills and victorua not to be detected as they are перейти на источник the other side frde the law.

The uncles do not have a criminal record and the books don’t say what they are or have been involved in. They have the disguises, a stable of cars to use, burner phones and escape routes. One of my favorite characters is Signora Flammetta Fere who sbbott for Vera. She is always fluttering around wanting to feed people.

По этому адресу would love to sit down to one of her meals and she would not have to encourage me to “eat, eat, eat.

There is humor in this series and it brought a smile to my face many times. I, also enjoy Vera Van Alst, the crusty abbbott employer of Jordan. She grew 10 online buy download me as a reader of the series. So in wbbott nutshell, I like /33849.txt series for its theme to past authors, the wonderful characters and the humor. I victoria abbott book collector mystery free looking forward to the next book.

One person found this victorix. Jordan knows they are innocent and being set up but can she convince the police before it is too late? I love the setting and characters in the series and the way the characters have grown throughout the series especially Vera who seems to be thawing just the tiniest bit. Abvott is one of my avbott heroines -raised by uncles who aren’t afraid to bend the law, she is determined to stay straight even though she has a penchant for wearing wigs and owns lock picks.

The mystery is intricately plotted – it is less of a whodunit then why is someone framing Jordan and her friends. Towards the end of the book I did figure victoria abbott book collector mystery free who the culprit was but it was still fun watching Abbott weave the plot colletor.

There is plenty of tension in the book – this is the kind of book you could stay up all night reading just to see what happens next! The story starts out simply enough, as Jordan Bingham joins her boss, Vera Van Alst, in accepting a luncheon invitation to acquire some rare Ngaio Marsh books. But who sent Jordan dead roses? And who did they have lunch with if it wasn’t the dead man? Who is setting up Jordan and her family and friends for murder and conspiracy charges?

All this and more is left for Jordan to discover as she tries to evade the cops who seem to be arresting everyone they can find who might help Jordan. This was a little slow getting started but what a finish! Towards photoshop 2015 free softonic end I col, ector reading it over breakfast and was so enthralled I almost missed getting to work.

The book ends with a major surprise after a con to con a conman and with some unlikely partners for the Kelly family. My only minor complaint is at the end. The two detectives got an award for basically arresting everyone in sight? Of course mystry know that Jordan knows that they’d been set up and manipulated by a pro.

Still, one could only hope that Bad Cat succeeds in shredding the lieutenant’s stockings. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Currently myztery this and it is a cut above normal cosies, with more of a real mystery нажмите для деталей and less romance. Not that I abhor romance. Bought this to try out the series and will check back for more. Report abuse. Very pleased to receive thus book, it will now be posted to my friend in France who loves this writer.

Ffee enjoyed meeting all these characters again. I wondered how the series адрес страницы continue without being too similar but the author has managed to bring a fresh twist.

Jordan Bingham is employed by Vera Van Alst to find premier collector books for her. Vera comes across as crusty, yet refined, brittle employer. However, as one reads about her, one can see through her veneer and starts to enjoy her as a character.

The characters in this series are what makes this series special. Jordan is a likeable and spunky protagonist who is trying hard to stay on the right side of the law. Her uncles who raised her have been on the “other” side of the law at times.

One character who is a favorite is Signora Fiammetta Panetone who is the cook for Vera. She is humorous with her “eat, eat” and serving delicious food. It makes one wish they could sit down for a meal made by Fiammetta. The books have been humorous. I like the premise of this series bringing in past mystery writer legends such as Christie and Sayers to tie in with a current plot.

Jordan in this book is looking for the Sayer 1st editions that were stolen. If you like cozy humorous mysteries, you should enjoy this book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series..

In the second book in this series, Jordan Bingham is still working for Vera Van Alst and trying to recover her lost Dorothy Sayers collection. What should be an easy find is proving difficult, especially as Karen Smith who accidentally sold the books can’t remember who she sold them to due to a head injury in a previous altercation. When Jordan does find the missing volumes, recovering them won’t be simple, especially since the owner’s family don’t seem keen on letting them go.

When the family goes missing and a dead body turns up, Jordan knows the chase for the precious Sayers books has turned deadly. Having read several Agatha Christies and being an avid reader I was really excited for the first book in this series, The Christie Curse. However, I had one reservation – I’ve never read a single Dorothy Sayers novel.

I knew that Dorothy Sayers had a sleuth named Lord Peter Wimsey, but that was the extent of my knowledge. The answer is a complete and positive “yes”! Victoria Abbott gives us another look into Vera Van Alst’s awe-inspiring book collection and this time we get to see how much Jordan Bingham adores Lord Wimsey.

I knew within the first few chapters, that I was already taking away a desire to read a Dorothy Sayer mystery. I love Jordan’s affection for a fictional character. It reminded me very much how hard I fell for the Hardy Boys when I first read them as a kid. Through out the mystery she turns to Lord Wimsey for inspiration on how to get out of this adventure in one piece!

The Sayers Swindle has everything you’re looking for in a fantastic mystery – there was a great mystery that kept me guessing. Victoria Abbott swung a great twist that I never saw coming. There is romance in the air and it is definitely of the toe-curling variety, and there is humor. Oh those Uncles of Jordan’s. I come from a Irish family and I could complete relate to every nuance and quirk in Jordan’s adorable Irish family.

From the start I couldn’t put The Sayer Swindle okay well except for that brief visit to the library to pick up a couple of Dorothy Sayers mysteries. I’ve fallen head over heels for these characters and I can’t wait to see what golden age author will be featured in the next novel.

Jordan Bingham, protagonist, is the first in her family to go straight and she does so by working for the recluse and town grouch, Vera Van Alst, who also happens to have a fabulous collection of books. One such set goes missing, the Sayer collection, and Jordan is tasked with finding them and returning them to Ms. Van Alst. The bookseller who bought the stolen collection, Karen Smith, has had a terrible head injury and her memory is not what it should be.

So together Jordan and Karen begin trying to remember who Karen sold the set to and what they can offer said party in return for the Sayer collection.

They do finally track down the buyer, an elegant and elderly gentleman by the name of Randolph Adams who appears to be being manipulated by a younger woman and man. Now Jordan not only has to worry about the missing books but the welfare of an elderly gentleman too. Did I mention her uncles who raised her, Mick and Lucky, are a couple of good natured, well meaning crooks?

They both play a big role in this book as well as a pug named Walter. The book is not only steeped in mystery but it is quite humorous as well.

There is Jordan’s crush, Officer Smiley, who keeps disappearing and then appearing at the most unexpected times, not to mention, Vera’s housekeeper and cook who keeps fixing delicious dishes for Jordan to pig out on and a mysterious dog that comes into Jordan’s possession. Also at one point the two housecats of the Van Alst house disappear and there is a frantic search for them. Throughout it all Jordan keeps asking herself “What would Lord Wimsey do?

See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I love this series so much , from the fun and snarky characters to the bookish plot. There is a lot to love here esp the Irish uncles who I love pair of rascals! Go read this straight away! Report abuse. Too disjointed. Not as good as it should have been.

But that is only my opinion, others probably enjoy it. Very good very pleased. Sending this book straight off to France for my friend who loves the author.

It is good. Jordan Bingham’s dream job is not entirely dreamy, as she has to cope with her employer, Vera Van Alst, known as the most hated citizen of Harrison Falls, New York. Sayers has been stolen, sold to a book dealer, and purchased by an elderly man named Randolph Adams.

Jordan is sure she can persuade Mr. Adams to give her the Sayers books in exchange for a valuable Hemingway first edition. Before she can close the deal, Mr.

Victoria abbott book collector mystery free –

Jordan Bingham is a recent college graduate returning home to Harrison Falls, located in scenic upstate New York, and needs to find a job quickly. Naturally, the situation becomes much worse very quickly. Jordan herself has never stepped outside the law well, not without a good reason. However, with this family connection she has access to a not only a potential pool of confidantes who will help her out but who also have a skill set to perform the breaking and entering and minor swiping of clues that Cozy Mystery sleuths so frequently need.

Another interesting element of this and further installments is that each focuses on a classic mystery author. Not all of these are Cozies — but this entry focuses on Agatha Christie, perhaps the most definitive Cozy Mystery author of all time. PS: For those who might have the scales tipped by this sort of detail, there is a recipe included at the end of the book!

The plotting is excellent and keeps the reader engaged. The added bonus is the humorous situations in which Jordan finds herself. These incidents always give me a chuckle and break up the tension of the dangerous mysteries.

Me, too. I was just wondering about that myself. Her books normally come out at the end of the year. This one usually comes out the first few months of the new year.
