Gang Beasts is a freaking weird game! I was drawn to this originally as I thought it was like wrestling. Well, it is nothing like wrestling instead what we have here is a crazy, fun, annoying, and just stupidly awesome fighting game that is a blast to play with your friends.

If you want a weird fighting game, you do not get much weirder than this. There are different cosmetics that you can get if you want to give your chosen character a tad more personality and individuality. Gang Beasts takes place in Beef City, but there is not much of a story here. I love the presentation of the game. They have gone for a very scaled back kind of art style and I like it.

I liked how each character has their own look with my personal favorites being the chicken and the dinosaur looking one. They have a kind of clay look to them and the way they bobble around looks awkward, but it will also make you smile. The game has you going up against three of your buddies.

You each pick your chosen fighter and then you duke it out to see who is the best. The gameplay of Gang Beasts is very strange and takes a while to get used to.

You only have a couple of attacks you can do as well as the ability to throw people off stuff. You get points and win by knocking out other players and throwing them off the structures.

There are different arenas that you can play in and these have their own hazards. Hazards have to be avoided by you, but the strategy comes into play by forcing your friends into them. It is the kind of game that anyone can literally pick up and play. It is not a fighting game such as Street Fighter, but it is still a fun party game. While the main gameplay mode is fighting your friends. You can also team up to save the streets of Beef City as you take on hordes of enemies.

I had a lot of fun with this and could easily see a full-on side scroller in the same vein as a Streets of Rage or Final Fight , but with these characters working very well.

I had a lot of fun with Gang Beasts. This proved to be a big hit for many gaming nights with my friends. It is the kind of game that is a million times better when you are playing with people you know, laughing, and talking trash as you do. I did try and play with randoms, but the game lost a lot of its magical appeal.
